Area VI YRAP Activities 2018
The goal for the 2018 YRAP program is to further involve and educate the Intro thru Preliminary Young riders in Area VI. By giving them opportunities to learn and practice their skills in real situations under the guidance of USEA Instructor Certification Program instructors, Young Rider Coach and Chef d’Equipe (team manager) ,as well as team candidate and past team riders. The hope is to further involve them in the sport by requiring, and rewarding volunteer hours at USEA events. Riders will also be rewarded for attending camps and Clinics with points.
March 2-4@ Twin Rivers Vet Box Clinic:
This clinic will teach YRAP riders about what happens in the vet box from set up to proper care of horse cooling out after X country. They will practice their skills at the selection trials at Galway by being paired with a candidate rider to help with their vet box.
March 30-Apr 1 Galway Jog Clinic:
This clinic will cover proper turnout and presentation for jogs.
At this event the YRAP riders will also help support candidate riders in the vet box at the CIC.
April 12-15 Twin Rivers:
At this event YRAP will support candidate riders in the vet box and help out grooming and supporting whenever possible.
This is also the pancake breakfast fundraiser so they will be volunteering.
May 25-27 Woodside:
At this event YRAP will present their horses and jog for the team coach. We will also bring together virtual teams to meet for a social, with team building activities throughout the event.
The hope is to also offer a few other riding clinics outside of the competition environment with the Young Rider coach and Chef as time allows.
All YRAP riders must have a minimum of 10 volunteer hours at USEA recognized events completed to be considered for year end awards.
- Year end awards will be given out for High point YRAP riders at the Area VI awards.
- 1st 50pts, 2nd 40pts, 3rd30pts, 4th 20pts, 5th 10pts. At all of the events they attend, These points are calculated against only other YRAP riders in divisions .
- Every hour above 10 volunteer hours is worth 5 points.
- Every YRAP clinic is worth 5 points.
- Young rider camp is worth 50 points.
YRAP must also be involved in fund raising efforts. Each effort will be worth points as determined by task.
The YRAP Jacket/patch program
Jackets will be available for purchase at the beginning of the season. As riders complete a event in good standing they will be awarded a corresponding patch, all the way through the levels. Team riders will continue to get patches as well.
Upon joining YRAP all members will receive a lapel pin to identify them for their dressage coat .
In the second half of the season I would like to see a YRAP Championship where they can practice their skills such as jogs and vet box. These can occur within other divisions using the first and second place YRAP riders in their divisions. It is possible this could be a special award included as part of the Area VI Championships.
Before the first event of the season Virtual Teams will be randomly selected. Teams will include 5 members. They will compete for the same points only they are added together as a team. The team points will go towards year end awards. The hope with this program is that the members get introduced to working together for a common goal. This program is also in place to create unity in the area.
